Cambridge Neighborhood Nine: The Ultimate Guide
Cambridge Neighborhood Nine leaves on the sidewalk
Is it the floor-to-ceiling windows? The building materials used on the exterior? Or is it the style of the architecture? There isn’t an exact way to quantify this, but in our opinion: what makes a building modern is sustainability, location, transportation, and amenities
First on our list is sustainability. This is completely a non-starter. Sustainability is a basic quality any modern building should have. The Macallen Building is exactly that – a modern sustainable building. It was awarded the Gold LEED Certification just right after its construction in 2008. You can even say it’s a trailblazer, being the first condo development in Boston to achieve this level of LEED certification. According to the scorecard, the Macallen building scored high on Innovation and Indoor Environmental Quality.
The Macallen is located in South Boston, one of Boston’s hottest neighborhoods. Its residents have easy access to restaurants and shops such as Menton, B&H Oysters, and a lot more. Additionally, its close proximity and walking distance to other Boston neighborhoods offers access and convenience that can’t be beat. You’ll be minutes from neighborhoods like Southport, Back Bay, and the Financial District.
Next, is transportation. You can say anywhere in Boston is walkable and accessible to the T, but this building is especially. Only 4 minutes away from the T Broadway station! This means tenants and residents can easily travel anywhere and anytime. Whether be it by walking, biking, or riding the train. Having this accessibility and convenience is a huge part of what modern living is and should be. But not only that, the Macallen building is also only a stone’s throw away from the major highways. You can travel out and back to the city just as easily. Total freedom!
Finally, to round out our list, we have amenities. Gym, concierge, underground parking, and a movie screening facility – all the basics, they got them here. But wait, there’s more! No one *really* needs a heated rooftop pool. No one *really* needs a view of the Boston skyline. And no one *really* needs a deck with green spaces for barbecues and entertaining. But this building has it for all its residents enjoy. Pushing the limit from merely convenient to luxurious. That’s what modern living is about!
Indeed, what makes buildings modern isn’t just their facades or the big glass windows that pierce through their elevations. It’s the things and activities they can afford their users. Modern living is having the freedom to do all the things you want through and within the comforts of your own front door.
