Art on the Plaza: Celebrating Juneteenth!
Saturday, June 18th | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

This year, New Art will participate in Juneteenth celebrations hosted by FORJ NNHS (Families Organizing for Racial Justice at Newton North High School) at the Walnut Street side of Newton North High School. Vendors including Black-owned businesses, food trucks, performers, DJs, kids’ activities, and art exhibits will make this a fantastic family day out, so mark your calendars.

Juneteenth Reading of Frederick Douglas

Juneteenth Freedom Day: Celebrating Black Joy

On June 19th Cambridge Families of Color Coalition will be celebrating Juneteenth, through the arts, at Starlight Square in Central Sq. We will center JOY on this day with live performances from our youth. The Cambridge Families of Color Coalition (CFCC) is calling in the entire city to celebrate Juneteenth together in a joyous community.

Juneteenth Royalty Gala

TThis year, as we celebrate Juneteenth Boston for an entire weekend in June. Juneteenth is the occasion where former slaves in 1865 celebrated freedom and democracy. It is a holiday that is so central to African-American identity and is worthy of being celebrated by all. This is why Governor Charlie Baker made this holiday official in Massachusetts in 2020. We, across the Commonwealth, celebrate it on Sunday, June 19th.

Juneteenth at the MFA
Monday, June 20th | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Courtesy of Citizens, admission to the MFA—including access to “Turner’s Modern World” and other special exhibitions—is free for all Massachusetts residents on June 20 in honor of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally observed commemoration of the ending of slavery in the US.
